Steve,

I have finally got off my A$$ and decided to put the MagPul UBR buttstock on my .458 SOCOM with the A2 buttstock.  What parts will in need to purchase (model #/name)?

Additionally, I have the additional spring that came with the rifle.  Should I switch to that?

Thanks for the assistance,
Bryan

We don't use UBRs for anything, but parts are readily available:

AR0113T  Tactical Receiever Extension
AR0072A  CAR-Length Action Spring
AR0107A  CAR Buffer

I'm assuming that Magpul includes any necessary mounting hardware with their kit, but if not, the screw that's normally used to secure our Entry Stock to that extension is the AR0076T.

You could use the shorter of the two "extra" springs that came with your 458 (it's an extra power CAR spring) but you would really want to try it with the regular power CAR spring first.

I dont think you need the receiver extension with the UBR as it replaces the buffer tube.

Steve,

Can you respond to this?  Do you have any experience with UBR's?

Thanks,

I can't respond well.  As I said, we don't use UBRs for anything.  If they offer a kit that includes spring and buffer, I would go with their kit as a starting point.

UBR does not come with a spring and buffer.  It is a great stock, I have them on my three favorite AR's.

Okay..then back to needing the CAR spring and buffer, but apparently not the receiver extension.
Thanks for the input guys.
