I push in on the extension (until it distorts), I try to push in the sides (don't seem to move), and nothing happens. Is there an easy way to switch baseplates?

Problem solved:
The issue is with the bumper sticking. Slamming the bumper onto the floor dislodges it and allows for normal disassembly
(with a screwdriver, of course).
