Any word on a timeframe?

I ask cautiously as I know that things "show up when they show up" but I haven't heard anything and was wondering if anyone in the know could comment.

I wouldn't go on much of anything as a time line unless it came from Magpul.  Ideas are given, time frames are rough, and additional projects come up and go away on a regular basis.

It may be next year, or it may be sooner.  Heck, it may be reborn and look totally different.

Drake,

Ignore the selfish bastages above this note. I'll be happy to pick mine up at Magpul to save you the postage and handling.

No need to thank me. That's just the kind of guy I am.

Think of what would be the awesome-happy-amazing love-child of a MagPul CTR Stock and LMT SOPMOD Stock.
That's the ACS.

Wasn't it Bushmaster that said Jan. 09??? In any event, Wasn't the delay made because MAGPUL wanted to do something different to the ACR? Is it moving the bolt release from the bottom front of the trigger guard to the LH side like an M16/M4/SCAR???? I think I would prefer it in that location, personally. Otherwise, I'd hate to confuse it with one of my H&K pistol's.. Also, wearing larger glove's I should think would be a bit cumbersome using the bolt release where it presently is on the ACR. With all that being said, I too would like to see the ACR out before years end. I doubt we'll see it, though, until next year. I bet we'll see the FN SCAR's hit the market first.

I think people are getting ACR, R as in Rifle, confused with ACS, S as in stock.

ooo  i like, didnt know about that one..

I'm pretty stoked about the ACS, though not to the same intensity as I was with the UBR. That said, I'm hoping that those battery comparments, once removed, show a more svelte stock. I don't really need one with bulging cheek pieces that store batteries.

Does anyone else check the Magpul web site three or four times daily to see if they make the ACS available for sale?

Joe, why not get the CTR, then?
7/23/2008 4:07:42 PM EDT
[#23]
I have three of them here in black and FDE. I have two more over in Iraq with my son's gear. I have another on the way for my youngest's shotgun conversion. How many more CTRs do you want me to buy?

For goodness sake, can't a guy get a cool ACR look-alike stock (ACS) around here?

The ACS is like a CTR with SOCOM or VLTOR cheek pieces.  I like it that way.

I have beady little close-set eyes. Don't need a SOCOM cheek piece.

Thanks for the pic. I don't really have a use for a stock like that but I'm sure a lot of people will love it.

I must have this product. It's blatantly more innovative that the LMT SOPMOD, at what appears to be an absolutely stellar price point.

So, in other words, get on it.

"ACS" + "MOE Plus" grip in FDE and I will be in heaven and broke once again!  The only problem is that I have grown tired of waiting and purchased MOE stocks and grips that I will have to sell when the "ACS" and "MOE Plus" come out.  I personally believe that it is all an evil Magpul plot to separate us AR junkies from our money by constantly coming out with new and better products, while making us wait for even newer, better and more addictive products!

I didn't realize the ACS had a SOPMOD-like profile.

The profile I want without any wobble?   Be still, my beating heart.

Stick,

You're a great photographer, but I fail to see anything humorous in that response.

Now, back to the good Dr,

Having the benefit of participating in the design meetings, certainly there's mutiple topics discussed regarding the ACS.  I can imagine cost, schedule, and performance would be key tops of dicussion.  So Mr Design review participant/industry liason, what can you share regarding the schedule?

traditionally disagreements should be handled in the classic manner.  Of course I'm referring to the wrists tied together, dancing knife fight straight out of Michael Jackson's 'Beat It' video.  Attending members will serve as back up dancers.
