I recently ordered a black RVG from Brownells. When it got here, I noticed it is a flat grayish color instead of a dark black, but I just assumed that was the Magpul "black".

I put it on my gun today and noticed out in the sunlight, there is a definate greenish tint to the RFG and it doesn't match any of the other black parts on the gun (even other black polymer parts).

Is this normal for black Magpul parts, or did Brownells send me the wrong color? It's hard to belive this is a black RVG, but the other 2 greenish colors offered do not seem dark enough to match this?

The Olive Drab green they have is very dark but certainly distinguishable from black, get a second opinion from someone to be certain and then send it back.

Actually, my brother originally saw it and said he thought it was olive drab. I tried looking through the pic thread above, but the only pics with olive drab parts seem to be in low/poor lighting, so I haven't been able to confirm.

I guess I need to send it back. It's definately not black, unless Magpul "black" parts are gray with a greenish tint.

I'm positive it's not black now. The camera brings out even more green when I go to take a good outdoor picture. It's OD, so I'll probably send it back.

Thanks for the help everyone.

I'm colorblind, and even I can tell that's not black.

The camera brings out a lot of green and lightens it up more. Before I installed it on the gun, it just looked like a flat gray, and I couldn't find any of the Magpul colors dark enough to convince me that it wasn't black. Not to mention the fact that the invoice said it was black. Maybe I'm just too gullible....

The picture brightened it up enough that you can tell it matches some of the parts in the Magpul pic thread now.

What'd the PACKAGING say, rather than the invoice?

Could it be their new Coyote Brown stuff?  But that looks like a wonky ODG.

Good question.  :popcorn

That would be OD.

I don't know where the bag went. I still have the invoice and the small parts that came with it. I'm sure it said OD and I just didn't look at it before I threw it away.

Either way, I'll probably just keep it. I can always order another black one and use this one elsewhere.

Thanks. I didn't realize OD was so dark in person. It seems pretty light in the website pics.
