I recently bought three sets of the Magpul special edition pink MOE furniture. I used one set to refurnish my bff's AR and everything worked well except the grip was a bear to get on. Last week I tried to use one of the other grips on my latest build but it would not go on no matter what. I had a friend who had built many AR's throughout his life and he tried everything including boring out the grips screw hole but you couldn't get the screw to go all the way in. I got my third new grip out and tried it but had the exact same problem. Finally we tried a stock DPMS grip and it went on, took it off and tried a Hogue grip and it went right on so I decided to keep the Hogue on it. I really like the pink Hogue grips but my intention was build three AR's with the full pink MOE furniture including the stuff that hasn't been released yet.
Here's my problem...I bought all the Magpul stuff from DSG but they don't respond to Emails or phone calls due to being swamped (nothing against DSG, I have a lot of respect for them selling Pmags without gouging). Is this something Magpul can take care of or am I screwed because I bought at DSG and can't get any response from them? If a Magpul rep could let me know here or via Email I would appreciate it. Thanks, Brandi |
| Not sure if this helps, when I bought my MOE grip it wouldn't fit on the receiver. I ended up having to spend about an hour with the file on my multi tool filing down the groove where it fit. Eventually, it went on and I was able to put the screw in, which was incredibly tight, I had to use a power drill to get it in. |
| That's the same problem I had with all three of my new ones and it's not acceptable to me. I love Magpul products but these MOE grips are defective. Since I had this problem I've heard from several people who also had or are having the same problem with their MOE grips. There is no way these things should be going out the door at Magpul which is why I posted here. I guess I'll contact them through their website also. |

Thanks, Brandi There is often a lot of thread locker on the screw included from Magpul, remove some or all of it and the "problem" should be gone. |

The grip itself slid on the lower and fit just fine but the thread locker on the screw was really hard almost like glue. I just used the existing grip screw I already had. |
| We chipped back quite a bit of that crud they put on the screw and it didn't work but maybe it wasn't enough. I'd feel like an idiot if it was a gunky screw. I asked the guy building my lower if it was the stuff on the screw and he said that it was caused by something else. He's built many lowers, I've built none so I was just going by what he told me. The only other grip screw i had was much too long to use so i couldn't try a different screw . I'm going to take one of the screws and chip all that stuff of it and then see if it works...I'm gonna feel stupid if it screws right on. |

For the 50th time... Heat it with a lighter for a couple seconds to warm it up, you won't have any issues. It may be the 50th time hearing it for you but it's the first time for everyone asking. Heating it up will be the easiest way, and you are correct that most people have no idea. |

Yeah, I just now found the installation instructions printed on the inside of the box sleeve. It might be a good idea to include something in the package so there aren't so many people asking the same question. I've even had a few people tell me they've sworn off the MOE line because of grip issues.
On the bright side the special edition pink furniture is awesome. Hopefully Magpul will follow up with pink trigger guards and pink quad rail covers, I know I'd buy them |
