This may not be easy to answer and I'm not trying to put you on the spot but in your opinion, what are the odds of a HR51655162735B or HR51655160058B color matching a recently purchased HR51655152100B? I'm wondering if they'd be reasonably close (upper to lower). Next question, do the HR51655162735B or HR51655160058B either one come with a chrome bcg? a non-serrated bcg? Thanks for all you do. |

Has H&R produced a complete 601? You have the 601 lowers (my 601 blem lower looks great by the way) but I couldnt recall if you had done a complete rifle. Thanks for all you do. |

Hey Mike, any idea when we might see more M16A1 or XM177E1 gray uppers in stock? Thanks

I've got a technical question for the XM177E2. What ranges are the sights supposed to be zeroed for? There must be a manual for these things but I can't seem to find it. I know a normal M16A1 is zeroed on the L aparture with M193 55gr, crossing at 25 and 375 yards on the L and 50 and 250yds on the normal aparture.
Does anyone have that info for the XM177E2? I'd like to get mine zeroed this Saturday. I'd be especially grateful if someone could point me to the original manual they must have made for these when they issued them, which I'd assume would have the zeroing info. |

View Quote The method outlined above gives the flattest trajectory, even more so in yards than meters out to 400 or so. Use FM 23-9 (1989). Mike has these zeroed at 25 yards on the "L" aperture and my teenage daughter has been shooting her grandfather's 14.7 H&R 654 and has not needed to adjust the sights. She's shooting below 5.5 MOA which is what the scaled silhouettes and downrange feedback targets are scaled for with their circles. This was minimum requirement to guarantee hits out to 300 meters. The soldier's goal was half that, 2.75 MOA with standard ammunition. Match ammunition would clover leaf. Her best groups have been 3/8" so far with PMC X-TAC. Have fun! |

There is also supposedly a 1980 revision but I can't find it either. A 50/200 (probably more like 50/150 given the shorter barrel) zero would be my backup, but it'd be nice to find whatever the Army originally intended for this gun. |

The special operations guys usually used them for close in work and I'm speculating, either kept them zeroed like an M16A1 or used the Quick Fire method. Ought to be some retired Air Force guys who remember on here how they did it. |

TM-9-1005-249-14 The 1980 revision of the XM177E2 manual Hopefully some old guys can chime in and tell us how they zeroed these back in the day. Based on some rough guesswork based on online ballistics charts, looks like the crossing points would be 25/275yds on the L aperture, and 50/175 on the normal one, so a 50 yard zero would be perfect. As it usually is. I'll chrono the AAC 55gr ammo I have this Saturday and see what the actual velocities (and therefor the actual second crossing distances) turn out to be. |

LOL One of the more common slings for the carbines was to use the 2 quart canteen utility slings. Mike supplies something like this with the Israeli carbines. There were slightly longer versions used during the Korean War that our guys would repurpose for their carbines too. We've also seen the canvas Garand slings attached backwards. |
