Okay, so I've got my Mil-Spec CTR installed on my AR and I love the look and feel of it. HOWEVER, I don't seem to be experiencing the ZERO movement I've heard touted about this stock. It seem to move forward/backward about maybe 1/16th of an inch. Not a lot, I agree, but it's noticeable.
I put this stock on a rifle kit I purchased from Del-Ton, which was shipped w/ an MOE stock. I didn't experience the same movement out of the MOE stock. Suggestions/explanations? Thanks, -Patrick |

I engaged the friction lock and noticed a very slight amount of movement. I slapped the stock on the end of the butt and the movement dissapeared. The way I look at it was providing friction to actually lock the stock in place. It is now a part of my routine. Adjust stock length, engage friction lock, give the butt a love tap, stock then solid as a rock. I do not know if this will help you at all. |
| Well, maybe more like an 1/8th... like I said, no real big deal, but I was definitely expecting ZERO movement, like I had heard from other reviews. Also, note that the MOE stock I had on it first had less forward/backward movement then the CTR stock. Note that the MOE stock is identical to the CTR sans the friction lock. This is what makes me wonder if there may be a slight defect in mine. |

This worked for my commercial stock:

I fixed mine- tale off stock 1. push out take down pin- remove friction lock 2. pull out plunder pin from Friction lock, ("space ship" looking pin) 3 remove metal clamp 3 skweeze clamp together (a VERY little not a lot)-i used vice grips. This was in the magpul thread with pics this summer, but I couldn't finD it today, Mine is super tight now... |

Could it be that the detent holes in your buffer tube are out of spec? I was thinking that at first, but I sort of ruled it out when I considered that the MOE didn't experience the same issue. cddavis: I just might have to give that a try when I get home |

While I understand the MOE had less movement, my guess is, it's your tube, not the CTR. You should have zero movement when your rifle is shouldered, and that is really all that should matter, right? |

I agree that this little bit of movement is basically nothing, but I'm stumped as to why I would experience it with the CTR, but not the MOE. If my tube was out of spec, and so was the MOE, that would make sense, right? But what are the chances of them both being "perfectly" out of spec so as to create no movement? I have to say, it doesn't seem like the friction lock is actually engaging, as I have the same amount of movement with it on as I do with it off.
Furthermore, I'd say it's more so the sound the little bit of looseness creates than the movement that is a little "off putting" for me. |

I have the same movement with my mil-spec CTR on two different buffer tubes. I've contacted Magpul and they attribute it to the wide variances in buffer tube. Based on how many people have stated theirs have 0 movement, I don't know if I buy it. Interestingly enough, one of the buffer tubes was bought from Magpul (Yes, they used to sell the mounting kits in addition to the stock bodies) and another is from BCM (which is probably a CMT tube).
