| Picked up my HRT 5 AM last night from jail. When I got home I went to instal the muzzle device and realized it came with the EZ brake instead of the minimalist brake that have come with Griffin suppressors I’ve bought in the past… Was curious if one was better than the other, especially in regards to suppressor erosion and wear? |

I don’t think the comp was ever standard- more like they probably grabbed them to ship units when the EZ was out of stock. All the sound tests published were run with std ez brake mounts. The sound performance is best with a short brake. Flash suppressors might slightly improve shooter air quality but they may add to muzzle sound a few DB’s. |

I've always wondered, does the volume inside the blast chamber affect suppressor performance, like sound/flash? Currently I have a recce 5k on a pin/weld 14.5 with the long 3 prong flash hider. I also have a normal recce 5 on a 12.5 SBR with an ez brake. I've always wondered if the shallow baffle stack of the recce 5k combined with the bigger 3 prong flash hider was hindering performance vs the shorter ez brake with the deeper baffle stack of the recce 5. |

The mini brake will allow the can to perform best. Get the gas out of the boreline, and force it to interact with baffles. Flash hiders sometimes push a laminar supersonic pencil of gas right out the front of a can, and that can cause a muzzle flash or louder sound. Obviously this doesn’t happen if baffles are very tight, but then you are flirting with baffle strikes all the time, which is no good. |
