How's the lot look for these?

Any chance the batch gets split like m44 and snipers did?

Sold out?!? How many did you have? Seriously, Mosins are a panic buy?

They had around 800 the first time I checked.  I am blown away how fast they sold.

Well....crap.

What I get for hesitating and waiting until today I guess

My M44 needs a big brother

First time I did an inventory check I saw 911 of them.  I watched all night as they slipped away.  Took all I had not to buy a couple.

Me too.  They are very fun to shoot, but after having used one to shoot 200 yds using irons last month, I was not blown away by the accuracy.  That was the only thing that helped me restrain myself :)

Mosins are hit or miss on accurac . I've had some that were tack drivers and others that were so-so.

Mosins do seem to be drying up slightly like said in AIM's description. After some time you'd have to think the stockpile of quadrillions have to get a little tighter.

They're also consistently $250+ rifles now at GSs and in the EE. So one for that half that of course gets snagged up for guys wanting to flip them.

They didn't look as nice as the pictures on AIM's site of theirs, the stocks weren't as nice, darker. These were Tula's, matching numbers on the ones I looked at, the one my buddy bought has a pretty decent looking bore, dated 1937, and shoots pretty straight, all we did was fire a few at 50 just because. Tiny bit of surface rust here and there, very small areas, the whole rifle cleaned up nice, but the stock needs to be stripped and re-finished, looks like shit. 162 out the door with tax, AIM still cheaper even with shipping+FFL fees. I had some surplus ammo for it, fun to shoot that old piece of history.

mosin's were back in stock there for a second.  Grabbed 2 because I was irritated with myself for letting them slide by last night.

Yeah, this.  I tried to order Friday evening when I got the email but the website was down to a crawl, and I wasn't willing to hang around the shop any longer to wait.

Y'all, PLEASE don't make me go to Bud's to buy one......

I'm so stupid.. I was going to order one or two of these the night they were posted but figured they would be there the next day.. Not so. :(

Maybe someone will cancel and I can pick one up. :D

I did the same thing you did.  Just watched them slip away.  Then I went out to the Mosin page and hit refresh and there were two there (after they were sold out).  Over the next few days do a couple refreshes on the page and see if any pop up.  They had at least 911 of them in stock.  My bet is they get a cancel or two.  There are people like me who buy .22lr ammo that wont shoot out of any of my guns and must go to Bryan for stupidity forgiveness.  And being the great guy that he is lets them off the hook with no penalty.

Type in 999999 into the quantity box and try adding it to your cart.

I need a few.. or three.

I'm not sure how these are a panic buy either...  But I've been watching the M44's get harder to find over the last year.

I was going to pull the trigger on ordering one,  but then I saw primers in stock somewhere and had to take care of that one quick.

Any more expected in? Any chance of bulk ones? Ideally I'd like to order 5 or so.
2/27/2013 9:49:05 AM EDT
[#33]
Picked up my 3 hex 91/30s yesterday.  Was hoping to get a Tula just to have one & ended up with a 1932 Tula and two 1933 Izhevsk.  All three were pretty nice condition.  Going to work on the bores to see if I can brighten them up any.  All three are counterbored-- something I was aware of but had never seen firsthand.  Doesn't bother me, because it just means the 'crown' is effectively recessed well into the bore and nearly impossible to nick up.  These are also the first pre-war Mosins I ever owned.  Differences are subtle but pretty cool.
2/27/2013 9:53:46 AM EDT
[#34]
I got my Hex and MO yesterday too.  My MO was counterbored, and my regular hex probably should have been!  My hex had rust on the receiver on the rear tang pretty bad =(  Some rust on some of the other parts, but nothing that bad like on the receiver.  My MO was in much rougher shape than I would have expected too.  They may be better once I get them fully cleaned up though.

Damn don't scare me like that lol mine is being delivered tonight so I'll get to see it after work. I ordered one of the
MO marked  rifles I really hope its in great shape ill post my impressions tonight maybe a pic if I get a chance.

My Tula had a bit of rust on the buttplate but I'm not overly bothered by it.  Should look okay after a thorough cleaning.

on surplus items the most dangerous thing is the boat ride over.  saltwater will rust anything and allot of these containers don't seal up well
2/27/2013 12:40:00 PM EDT
[#38]
Got my MO Hex in just a few minutes ago. Some rust on the bolt handle and a little on the front band, but the receiver and stock look great. A little work on the bolt and it will look great. I think this is the nicest stock with clear markings I have when compared to my other Mosins.
2/27/2013 12:50:07 PM EDT
[#39]
You know the thing I noticed about these versus all the other surplus rifles Ive gotten is that there is little to no cosmo on them.  The Molot guns I just got are all oiled to heck. These Nagants were pretty much just dry.  So that would also explain why the boat ride would effect them more.  They have far less protection then they used to.  I just want to be clear I wasnt blaming AIM =D
2/28/2013 6:23:55 AM EDT
[#40]
Just as a PSA, everyone should make sure they inspect them up ASAP.  Last night I stripped it down and it was much worse than I thought.  The barrel bands and barrel also had significant rust on them =(  A 100% copper scrub pad cleans it up pretty good though and doesnt damage the finish (besides the obvious pitting that will be left behind).  I would hate for someone to not break it down and the barrel keep rusting on them.

I'm slipping.  I used to disassemble my milsurps & clean them as soon as I got them.  Now that I have kids that has to wait until I have a rare bit of me time.

Sorta my thing.      All the local tightwads would rather pay $170 for a beat to crap T-53 or $170 for a mediocre M91/30 than $260 for a Mint M44.

I for one was happy they got some M44's in today as I didn't have one.

Holy CEERRAAAPP.

Well, here in rural MT the craze ain't so bad. we still have semi-auto's at not-super-inflated prices.  (high but not $2,000 per AR).
