I am curious about reviews of Horus optics as I see Todd Hodnett is endorsing such. I am currently plotting a NF 2x10x32 for an AR15 and maybe .308, generally not to exceed 600 yard shots. Primary use will be shooting deer and other critters of the enchanted forest. Are there any comparisons to draw between the two scopes? Any issues with the NF not being First Focal Plane? Thoughts and options for the NF scope with the Horus reticle? Recommended reticles for such applications? Any insight is greatly appreciated. Of course all purchases will be made from LaRue as per usual. |

I just bought and mounted the NF 2.5-10X32. I had a Leupold 6.5-20X40 30mm on it my OBR prior.
The NF is superior in every way. I use my OBR to whack Coyotes up to the same ranges you are talking about. Last night on my last stand, the sun was 99.9% down and looking thru the NF, I still could've made a shot easily. I love the wider field of view, and @ 10X, out to 600 yrds. w/ this NF, somethings gonna die! Oh, yeah, I chose the NP-1, friggin awesome reticle for hunting. Now if the friggin wind will quit blowing.................. Go NF and never look back. |

I find your post relevant to my interest You should find it in your interest to grab a horus if u looked at the highlighted portion of the post too. The Horus reticles on the Bushnell (H59) provide damn near perfect second shot reliability and ranging when there are unknown variables such as wind and distance. I have a 2.5-10 NXS and granted it is nice. However, it's place sits on a shorter range rifle. With the Bushnell, my low end is 3.5x and my high end is 21x. I don't sacrifice much on the low end and at distance with any reticle, target identification is crucial. It just so happens that magnification is crucial to that aspect of target ident. |
