TRX E rails are my go to. I've used several, lots of my friends use them or the vtac rails. But I just installed one on an Rguns NiB upper and had an interesting issue.

With the gas tube perfectly in the slot, the tube wouldn't go on the barrel nut correctly. We tried 3 times with three different torque specs. No matter what, the tube was canted one way or the other.

No big deal really, we milled a tab off, centered the gas tube in the double wide slot and it all aligned perfectly.

One friend has a vtac tube/rguns upper combo with no issue.

Is this common? Its an easy fix so I'm not worried about it, just curious.

Were you not able to get the gas tube aligned with on of the grooves on the barrel nut because then the handguard would not align? Or with the proper torque would the groove on the barrel nut not align with the slot on the receiver? Normally there are no issues with barrel nut timing. Thank you!

When the gas tube aligned with both the slot in the nut and upper, the tube wouldn't align. Like I said, just curious, its no issue.

This could be because you are installing the TRX with the top rail directly in line with the upper receiver. The TRX is meant to install at an angle, then once against the receiver you are able to twist lock the handguard into place. Thank you.
