New RIII (Page 3 of 7)
|
In other news, the (Press Kit/Media) section of the web site has been updated with a new sales brochure for the M4A1 RIII, indicating that it will have a mid-length Gov-profile barrel/gas system. Of course, we already heard it here from Joe first. Here's hoping that this rifle (and the new 10.3" and 11.5" guns) will be a viable competitor against the Geissele URGI in SOCOM. |

My assumption has been that the dealers that are listing them as available for pre-orders are just trying to make early money. I'd be hesitant to send money to any of these dealers right now. With that being said, Brownell's has always had a pretty close relationship with DD, so if they're starting to list those guns, I take that as a good sign for availability. |

Brownell's has product page up for various RIS III rails (pre-order, none in-stock yet): https://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/forend-amp-handguard-parts/handguards-amp-rails/ar-15-ris-iii-rails-prod146531.aspx |

That’s why it won’t let anyone add to cart. |

| Been keeping an eye on this. Will probably try to snag one of each rail when they become available individually. If it’s anything like the RIS II (MK18 FSP / GL/SSC) it’s possible some of these get dropped from production and become more difficult to find down the road. |

I just saw that Yeti Firearms has an M4A1 RIII for sale right now on GunBroker, and unlike most of the GunBroker listings I've seen, which just show pics jacked from the RIII press kit, this listing features Yeti's own pics. Looks like they're starting to become available for sale. |

I've seen plenty of people who have changed the muzzle device on their factory RIS II M4A1 (which also comes with a pinned-and-welded flash hider); just gotta take it to a good gunsmith. I've never bothered because the factory flash hider works fine for me and I don't run my M4A1 suppressed. |

If I do end up with one I’d send it off to John at Retro Arms for the P/W. I have had him do others in the past and hands down the best I’ve seen and fast turnaround. I have of Surefire cans in jail and will be running those full time. |

If that width is across the flats, sweet. Congrats on not making it anorexic. I’ll take an 11.5” rail, pls. Or a DDM4 quad rail in 11.5”. Actually, I’d buy 3 of those. Seriously, though, this looks like a cool rail. |

I just noticed that DD has quietly started selling an all-black version of the M4A1 RIII on their web site. I find it interesting that they offer this option for the M4A1 RIII, even though it was never an option for the original M4A1 with the RIS II (only the MK18). Will the RIII guns be available in any other finishes (e.g., Mil-Spec+)? |

And yes, as of this message, the M4A1 RIII is in stock on the website in both color options. I'm sure additional color options will be offered in the future. |

It'll have the same clearances for a Surefire SOCOM RC2 that the current 10.3" barreled upper will concerning the new handguard? We'll begin selling the RIS III handguards next year. The 9.5 is the same length as the legacy RIS II MK18 Handguards. This is the one you'll want. Very easy to swap out as well. Just remove the lower rail from your RIS II and unbolt the handguard from the bolt up plate. Install the RIS III 9.5 and bolt up it up and then install the lower rail. Boom, you're done. |
