Actually there is more weight in the more recent one on the right. Do you know the weigh difference? Having seen (but not weighed) both I would guess that the one on the right would be lighter. Plus it appears to put the lever further forward and a little higher inside the trigger guard. Maybe weight distribution... I have read that some of the other brand units that are obviously heavier have had problem with engaging prematurely. |

The BAD on the left was purchased about 3 weeks ago from G & R Tactical, and the BAD on the right was purchased from Bravo Co last week. I'm curious as to why the change was made? Purely structural integrity? http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l249/FR0GMAN/BAD1.jpg http://i98.photobucket.com/albums/l249/FR0GMAN/BAD2.jpg Wow there's already a Gen 2 BAD? That was quick |

Quoted: If you will look at where Magpul is machined, in the one on the right it is thicker. This makes the one on the right heavier and stiffer in the vertical section. I don't know if they have moved it forward and up or not as the camera angle on the first one makes it look different. Had the picture been taken straight on you might be able to tell.Quoted: Actually there is more weight in the more recent one on the right. Do you know the weigh difference? If you also look at the lower part of the 2nd model you will see it is thinner and since it sits higher in the trigger area is probably a touch shorter overall. That is why I said I thought it might be a few grams lighter. |

I got mine from BCM and Mooney's and both of them are the "new" ones I guess.

One's real, the other a cheap airsoft knock off from China???? The change came about as we had raw material there and we thought it might look good to change that area a little, It is just an inline change we did during the CNC machining. Everything else is the same including material. |

hell ied just like to have one whatever version they are
im left handed so it might be useful to me as opposed to all the "omg costa has one I need one on every single gun I own....even if its not an ar" histeria cant hit my damn bolt release without wrapping my whole hand around the magwell |

Continuous improvement..
Actually I have a improvement you guys should incorporate. The rear side of the latch part, there's a angle slope. You should do the same on the bottom side because I found out on my Noveske VLTOR upper, that material there causes my bolt catch paddle to angle a little due to contact to the upper. I don't think it was enough to engage, but I never tried it under fire. I filed it down and now the bolt catch paddle is sitting flush again. |

My guess is that they design the BAD to work with mil-spec upper receivers. VLTOR uppers are not exactly mil-spec. |

My guess is that they design the BAD to work with mil-spec upper receivers. VLTOR uppers are not exactly mil-spec. I believe your partially right. I think they designed it for multiple uppers, including VLTOR MUR-1A, but there are slight changes to the newer ones which they cannot foresee. Also possibly there might be slight variances in quality control on even the same uppers. This is what I encountered when I built my own personal BAD lever so I tried to engineer it to fit all upper/lowers that I have (and I have quite a few). I'll post up pictures of what I modified on the BAD to get it to work properly, but I think my description of what I did is sufficient to get a idea. |
