That just Fucked it from being sold even in a post ban modified form in CT

"Sporter"  WTF are they thinking up in Hartford?

Not a fan of the logo but I'd take it over the leo markings on the standard le6920. In the end it really doesn't matter though.

I really like that it says "M4 Carbine" and agree that all of the "LE" oriented marking variations are a bit much.

I wish if they would have just the horse logo centered at the top with a minimal amount of text below.

Although obviously just a subjective aesthetic issue, the stylized "Colt" next to the larger horse logo has always looked unbalanced and strange to me.

At least they didn't call it "Sportical"

The Pony should be bigger and centered with just the words "M4 Carbine" below it.  No need for the Sporter.

All in all though, it will satisfy the non-LE crowd.  I personally prefer the Mil/LE marks on mine.. makes it feel and look a little more authentic.

FWIW.. anybody looking to pick these up.. they are going for $1099 on Sturm..

Agreed.  The presence of the word "Sporter" means that it is banned in CT.

However, the LE Carbine was GTG provided we pinned the buttstock, put a brake on it, and knocked off the bayo lug.  Essentially making a MT with original rollmarks.

Even if the 6920 didn't say "Law Enforcement", or "Sporter" (or even "Match Target"), and otherwise remained as-is, it would still have enough evil features to qualify as an AW under PC 12276.1(a).

Has anyone gone to one of the distributors, and asked them to contract with Colt for a special run of rifles built to MT6400 specifications, preinstalled with bullet buttons, a monsterman grip, and a new rollmark like "Cali Carbine" or something else unique instead of the "Match Target" label?

If the Sporter was left off the roll mark, you'd be able to own one of these in California? I'm not completely up on California law, but I thought Cali still had similar laws to the AWB in effect? So no removable flash hider, collapsible stock, etc... Don't get confused between the Sporter line and the Match Target line.

I don't know where the public Colt's Mfg 2011 catalog is right now, but here is a link to my copy that shows both the SP and MT lines.

Yeah, nice and clean markings, the main reason I've been avoiding to get the LE6920 for a long time is the large LE markings.

I don't see any caliber marking in that pic, but if it don't have any that's OK because it could be used with multi caliber builds.

I would also prefer that it should have an AR-15 marking, and no offense to guys in states with their own AWB, I'm just old school and you younger guys just ignore me.

If ever I get one of these in the future, I'm tempted to add "for civilian use only" markings on the right side of the magwell.

Looks great, only thing I'd change would be the selector markings from "SAFE-FIRE" to "SAFE-SEMI" but I understand why most manufacturers don't do that.

I still don't understand why they didn't introduce this model (the M4 carbine "Sporter") 6.5 years ago.

Love that they released a non-neutered model marked "M4 Carbine," but it just looks... sparse.  Kind of off.  Kind of unnecessary, IMHO to go through the trouble of re-tooling (even if it's just the rollmark setup) just to take off the LEO markings.  They didn't even open up any new markets, as all the states that have "by name" bans apply to the "Colt Sporter" line already.

That's just what you guys think, it's only the picture, I've seen it actually today at my local dealer and it's just lots of oil.

No dings or chips, it's a battle weapon what do you guys expect.

The one I saw was just about a hundred more units more than the serial number shown in the original post.

The markings looks exactly like the pic shown here, and the other markings near the selector says "Colt's Mfg. Co. Inc.", nice.

Also the usual Colt markings, M4 above the gas hole of the upper, C MP 5.56 NATO 1/7 on the barrel, F marked FSB, square forge mark (Brass Aluminum Forging Enterprises) on the detachable carry handle, and C both on the bolt and M16 auto carrier.

The M4 buttstock was smooth and no rough edges unlike the same stock I got with my 6721 last year, mine was rough with a lot of mold flash.

In the bag is the usual stuff, owner's manual, cleaning rods, bore & chamber brush and a black basic silent sling with two black metal buckles.

No problem with that at least you already have a hunting mag, lots of PMAGs (etc.) also USGI mags are available now at very low prices.

I'm not sure if it could hold 5 or 8, yes it's a very short mag with the lower 1/3 portion which is all black plastic.

I never had those short mags before, all mine are 20 rd and 30 rd Colts.
