How it compare to the old one, and other all in one devices like the PA AFAB?

I just got mine in, won't be able to shoot it until next week. More or less concussion, dust signature in the prone, etc?

In for response. I got the "new" version, and was surprised that it was different from what all others vendors carry. I figured GA just used the wrong photo. I'll be picking up the old style soon and I'll update you if I like one better.

I had one on order but at the last minute changed my mind to the hammer comp.
the hammer comp is really cool but now I think I still want a flash comp

After looking at the tests run by TTAG, the old flash comp was significantly better at hiding flash and reducing recoil, wonder why it changed?

TTAG has tested them both? When I googled I couldn't find anything. I actually like how the new style looks better but I'm curious what performance change there was.

Test of recoil reduction:

Not the hybrid brake/FH, but just the brake

Flash test for hammer

Flash for flash comp

No tests are available for the hammer/flash hider combo device we got sadly.

Turns out the flash comp I ordered is the new style, even though the pic was the old. Shucks.

I'm gonna order the new flash comp but just got the new hammer comp installed on my SBR and I'm really impressed with it.
It really does take the recoil down to almost nothing. I really didn't notice a lot of flash with it but I was shooting in the middle of the day.

Shoot, I was at the range yesterday and didn't even think to shoot it without the suppressor on :(. Next time if I remember lol.

I there's more recoil with the suppressor on than off.

For the A2 sized Hammer comp to perform that well is really something.  We found the hammer comp muzzle control to be superior, and an intrinsic fun factor really helped us to love the hammer comp enough to integrate some of the mechanics into the flash comp.

The flash comp had one weakness- if you got the muzzle device very warm, the flash could occasionally bloom brighter.  The new flash comp doesn't have that issue.  I like it better, but some of that is always going to be personal preference.  It was considered a superior design by the Griffin team here so we went that direction.

@right_rudder I know this is an old post, but how comfortable is the hammer comp on your SBR?  Meaning, does it kill your ears even with plugs and muffs on or can you feel the blast on your face?  I have a minimalist brake on my 11.5" SBR and without the blast shield it is a pain to shoot.  I'm considering switching to the Hammer Comp but would like to know if I have to use the blast shield all the time or not.

@Neomonk21

It isn't bad at all (in my experience). It sounds a lot like the minimalist break but it really does a good job of reducing recoil.
Keep in mind, I run it with the can on most the time, but when I do take the can off the comp isn't what I'd consider offensive.

ETA - I haven't tried running my comp with the blast shield. Maybe I should sometime.
