| Hey Larue guys: Here's a waaay out of the box question. Have you ever thought about adapting your QD designs fort he motorcycle accessory industry? Bike guys are always looking for good QD solutions for touring luggage, windscreens, electronic devices, etc. |

With all due respect to LT, the thing that a LaRue QD mount does is return to zero like nobody's business. It's certainly not intended as a load-bearing mount, at least, AFAIK. It might be great for your GPS but there are many less complicated and structurally stronger ways to secure a large piece of gear to a mount base and have it be something that takes only a few moments for on/off.
Hey Larue guys: Here's a waaay out of the box question. Have you ever thought about adapting your QD designs fort he motorcycle accessory industry? Bike guys are always looking for good QD solutions for touring luggage, windscreens, electronic devices, etc. This is actually something I've been working on myself for quite some time. I have been envisioning building the "better mousetrap", a QD hardside case set-up for metric cruisers. I have been left greatly dissatisfied with what is offered and those garbage round wire saddlebag offsets are junk, IMHO. There needs to be a VERY discreet, permanently attached mounting point for the motorcycle itself that allows for expediently securing & removing hardside cases like you'd find on a touring bike. It should also be stable like non-removable cases so they don't "flap" with the motion of the road. It should also be theft-resistant so you're not uncomfortable walking away from the bike with more than just a sweater stored inside. I pretty much have it worked out by design on paper, I just need to build the prototype. I'll be building the first set specifically for the Kawasaki Meanstreak, which is what I'm currently riding. I love the look of the solo seat and stripped down cruiser with sport bike-profile tires. However, the trade-off is that I have to wear a backpack any time I want to take the bike on a trip. It'd be great to be able to ride it as it is, around locally & quickly add storage for a day trip, only to pull it off once there & settled-in to where I'm staying. |
