Since all three OBR shows a blurred gas block in the same location, I can't figure out if that mean all OBR will have a carbine length gas system, or simply because the 16/18/20" picture is simply a photoshop of a early prototype OBR (in 16").
I'm still trying to find out more about the 18/20" version before making a final decision. Since my OBR isn't used for any door kicking or being humped into the sandbox, I'm considering getting a longer barrel. But until the gas system question is answered, I don't have any information to make this decision... FC |

Mfingar confirmed earlier that the basic layout is the same (i.e. the slightly sticking out part) but questions about how the adjustable parts fit in have never been answered. Sadly, those of us who have an interest in the 18/20 OSR (or OBR-DMR variant) seem to hold no mindshare at Larue's at the moment. Honestly I wish they would take a few minutes out of googling for "Dick Swan is evil" material to communicate with customers. This isnt the first thread on this in the last few weeks that has gotten completely ignored, heck a bit more transparency on shipping the OBR in general would be nice, we're up to what? 4 total board members with one. (yes I realize the shipped number is probably several times that) /rant off for the week |

Using the group measurement software that Mark turned me on to awhile back (good call on that one, ontarget is the name) I get about 14.5 inches for the end of the gas block in the 18/20 thats the same length as the rifle tubes in the 5.56 uppers
I get somewhere around 11 inchesfrom fiftcalal and others pictures of where it is in the 16" (where the 3rd "rib" is in those pictures, its been removed now) and that is close to where the tube is in the 16" 5.56 uppers in that pic (probably a little off at first look I thought it wasnt even close). |
