| My dad has an old colt AR15 in a1 configuration as far as I can tell. Fixed stock, slots in the flash hider goes all the way around, and we were trying to find out the manufacturing year, and all the serial numbers are 5 digits but the one we have is 6? If it helps the first 3 are SP146xxx. Any help? |

Colt only use SP1 on model numbers on the lower receivers.
With serial numbers prefix Colt mostly only use letters such as SP, GC, ST, CMH, MT, etc. http://biggerhammer.net/ar15/ar15serial.html |
