OK, I got at least 6 months to ponder this question but I don't want to procrastinate .
I almost purchased the Trijicon AccuPower 2.5-10x56/LT111 combo, but took it out of my cart, I figured no sense in getting ahead of myself here. A few times a year I have opportunity to shoot (hunt) 500-600yds out in central TX, but mostly it will be under 300yds. I know the 10X will be fine but didn't want to limit myself since I'm going to invest a good amount into a scope and don't want to regret my purchase. I would like to keep amount of optic/mount under $1500, can any of you guys who have either a 7.62 or .260 rifle give me any recommendations? Thanks in advance for any info! |
| My good friend received an 18" .260 from Mr LaRue. He is a very well respected AR smith. He said the NF ATACR 4 x 16 F1 would be ideal for this rifle. That scope and mount will be a little outside of your $1500 target, but you could try the second focal plane version or the SHV version and stay in your budget. |

I had quite a few high dollar optics rolling around when it came to outfitting my 260 Tobr. (US Optics, Nightforce, Vortext Razor HD gen 2's, etc...))
I actually ended up with the cheapest one I had available. A Viper PST 6-24 FFP. I went with it because I wanted to see what the rifle could do in an "affordable" setup. It's still performed wonderfully and I don't feel that I have to use an expensive one on it. Though at times I do wish I had a hair better clarity at distance. You can't really go wrong here as long as you pick a quality product. The rifles are just amazing shooters. |

There are some nice scopes on sale right now. Leupold VX-6 and some Swarovskis. Not tacticool, but some damn nice glass. Thanks, I'd love to have a Swarovski or VX-6 but not sure if I can swing the coin on those. Being tacticool doesn't impress the deer any What I'm looking for is good light gathering, clarity of the glass, & some sort of MOA/MIL holdover but not be overly busy in the reticle.

Thank you, I didn't know NF made SFP versions. Quoted:

I'm honestly looking for best bang for my buck since I'm saving up for the rifle. Viper PST scopes are now on my list to look at as well. |

I need to see about a price adjustment. It's cheaper than what I paid < a month ago. |

Vortex all the way. Best quality for the cost and unlimited lifetime warranty is hard to pass up. I have a Razor HD Gen2 1-6x24 and it's B.E.A.UTIFUL. Their new AMG line has me drooling.... Yes, great warranty. Yes, good quality. With more reticle options and 34mm tubes aside from the top tier models, I'd probably have one or two. |

I have the same question for the .260 I have on order. I'm between the NightForce 5-25×56 ATACR F1 and the Swarovski X5i 3.5-18x50. Unfortunately I cannot see either before ordering; no local dealers carrying them in stock. If anyone has experience with either or both, if you could share it would be greatly appreciated. Also, any thoughts of either of these two on the .260 would be appreciated. I'm currently have a Leupold VXR Patrol 3-9x40mm FireDot TMR (30mm) on my PredatOBR 5.56.
Thanks! |

I have a NightForce 5-25x56 ATACR on each of my 18" 7.72 tOBRs and on a 26" 6.5 CM AI bolt gun. These are the second focal plane versions. Very nice clear optics. The turrets are easy to use. Very well built and maintain zero despite hard use. I have ordered a NightForce 5-25x56 F1 ATACR for the 22" .260. |

| Thank you @Fr8dog and @Snipert. I was leaning NF and sound like it's a good choice. Now if I just know roughly when the .260 would ship; managing personal cash flow I'd order the optics in advance if the rifle was going to arrive in mid/late Q1. Maybe I should wait until at least 1/1 to give me a chance to get the hot towel treatment next year. |
