I loaded 30 rounds into a few 30 round P-Mags with windows and noticed when I snapped on the impact cover the rounds were pushed further down the magazine about a quarter inch.  I assume this is normal, but just wanted to make sure.

Also, is there a chance that the top round could be warped during long term storage?

it pushes the round down so that the stress is releaved off the lips of the mag.

Ok guys, thanks for clearing up that the rounds being pushed further down is suppose to happen when you snap on the impact cover onto a fully loaded magazine.

However, is there a chance that over time this could warp the top round in the magazine?

I once put 31 rounds in one of my pmags and the cover would not snap on,i realized then that something was wrong.I could not figure it out as it was a brand new mag.I unloaded it and counted as i put them back in and i had one left over. All of them hold 31 but i know it would cause problems and ruin the mags so dont do it.
