Yup. I bought 1 just to play with.  I am waiting for 2 regular Pmags to show up from AIM.  With the mag loaded with 28 the window only lets you see the bottom few.  It's still very sturdy even with that window.

The window is not used to see the rounds, look for the little orange coil on the spring.  This is what counts the rounds.

Great video. Thanks for the clarification.  I noticed a Ranger plate on that Pmag.  Are special Ranger Plates available to purchase for these yet?

Sorry I did not clarify, the mag in the vid is our USGI Maglevel.  The same round count is used on the PMAG.  We do have plans for a Ranger on the PMAG.  It's not out yet though.

Ok,
I seen the video and from my exprience this would not due buy MARINE CORPS standards for round counting.   First off in combat I dont think the red spring for counting ammo would work as I would not be looking for a red spring while firing. I need numbers to give me an estimate on how many rounds I have left like 10,20 30 rounds.  This would be most useful in combat I take cover check my mag to see if I need to reload or not seeing were the rounds are on the counter would be more useful then the red spring.  Other then that these mags are dynamite!  I am telling all my friends and work about these mags!  My apologys if I offended you on the counting thing I just think it more useful to have Numbers then the red spring?   Maybe you can change that for more accurate counter.

I remember seeing a digital "ROUND COUNTER" somewhere on the net... ran something like $250... but that was a prototype.
I have several USGI-types with the window... I know if they're full... I know if they're loaded @ 25 (my long-term loading)... I know when it's half dry... I know when I'm getting low... I know when I have 1 round left. I will be getting my next batch of PMAGs with windows.
I don't need an actual "counter"... the window works great and it's a hellova step above solid-sided USGI mags with no "round counter" or window!

Eric,
I am not trying to dog out magpul in anyway.  I too will be buying them as well.  What I am saying from a Marines point of view is its not that efficient to look at a red spring when you can put a number system on the clear window?  That to me is more Important to know roughly to guage how much is left in a mag and makes a more accurate mag thats all not trying to get into a Pissing contest.  Also from a law enforcement,Homeland def,Military dutys  are storage of mags, inventory purposes as well for combat the number system works better.  Thats if you want the Military contract!   These are no doubt the best mag out thier bar none! I love these mags they are great mags with out a doubt.  But I also work in the Nuclear industry even my boses say the same storage and inventory purposes it would be the better way.  Change is good thats how we get better I can rember back in the 90s putting a Aimpoint on a M-60 or M249 saw was unheard of to do why do that to a machine gun why?  because it  makes it better thats why.  Sorry if I made anyone annoyed buy this.

I would think with a little bit of time and experience with the windowed mags, you would be able to get a rough idea of how many rounds left by the position of the red marking on the spring. No?

If having an actual number is important, put 5 rounds in and draw a line with a sharpie and write 5 next to it. 5 more and more sharpie for 10, keep going until you're done.

I dont think a sharpie is the way.  I am looking at this at a military point of view and my command as well.    This is not a big deal I am just speaking out loud on a upgrade thats all as the M-16 was up graded.  You like the forward assist? Heavy barrel and 1/7 twist?  and various other upgrades. Guys this is just an opinion not a bashing these are very nice mags no doubt and I own several anyway this is just a suggestion.

I'm waiting for the semi-transparent smoke mags!  I know I can't count the rounds in it either, but I think a quick glance will tell me if I've got enough rounds to finish the stage, or if I should take the time to swap mags on the run before going in the shoot house.

Ok,
Why not  10,15,20,25,30 count on the window?

Ok,
Maybe I am trying to say is in combat the number system is a better f@cking option? Since I am a MARINE 1371 combat Engineer my opinion might matter abit?   Now I am tired of the smart alec comments on how we should not change things and this and that.   If you want the fricken Govt contract you might want to conform to Military strandards!    When the shit hits the fan and all you gut is the MARINE beside you and ammo is running low you want an accurate count in the mag!  These are great mags and I want to see them in the USMC asap!  Now all I am asking is number them!

Who the hell said anything to you that deserved this childish tantrum?  But hey, since you already think someone's being an a$$ -

What exactly ARE the "military standards" regarding the ability to visually identify the number of remaining rounds in the current GI mag?  Since you apparently plan on single handedly rejecting MagPul's bid for a "military contract", I guess you should be sure and outline specifically what those "standards" are.

My gas tank doesn't have NUMBERS on it either, but I can figure out when I need to stop by and "fill 'er up".  It does not matter whether you have 10 rounds left or 8 rounds left...  If you have cover, RELOAD!  If you don't, you need to FIND SOME because either way, you need to RELOAD!
