Photoshoots are a real pain in the ass for me, but I do them because I want to try and create a little beauty in the world, and maybe they help with marketing, maybe they don't!
This far into the game (12 months +), I've kind of settled on my artistic vision. I started with chaste photoshoots, since I was using my friends as models, and respected them too much to ask them to do skanky shoots. Now, I've realized that I kind of don't want to do skanky shoots. It's a far to hackneyed and cliche concept that might have had some traction in the 80s, but I feel that the average consumer is far too jaded, with complicated and sophisticated taste to let that type of marketing really catch their attention. Kind of like how like a lot of TV shows and movies which were reboots in the last decade have been dark and gritty... I have a feeling that when you see chicks with guns, you want to be able to at least kind of believe they can kick ass. |
