I have a pistol buffer tube that I got from PSA some time ago. I tried putting it on a build last week and ran into a problem: there is no groove for the CAR stock latch plate. After looking at the website discription it says:

"Some gunsmithing required to install standard mil-spec latch plate."

Is cutting a groove for the latch plate part of that? Or are they just talking about the usual staking? If it was on purpose why build it this way?  Is there an ideal way to cut the grove? Dremel ?

The pistol buffer tube does not require clocking, so it does not need a tab in the latch plate, or a castle nut.  Remove the tab in the latch plate to install with a pistol tube.  There is no need to modify the tube.

This is to install a standard mil-spec latch plate.  There are pistol latch plates available that do not have the locating tab.
