The impact cover is also supposed to be a go/no-go guage for the feed lips. Buy the instructions my brand new ones are bad. Has anyone else come across this?

Take em' to the range and try em'
If they don't work I'm sure Magpul
will make good on them

The "tail" on the cover is tapered and shouldn't go past a certain point on the feed lips if they are in spec. If they've somehow spread, then that piece will go too far into the mag.
