BEWARE...I bought Gen3 pmags a few weeks ago and the feed lips HAVE STRETCHED! A slight flick of the wrist or a slight bump when inserting it and the second round comes up slightly and keeps the mag from seating in the well. I keep 28 rounds in them (30 round mags). I discovered this while at the range and could not seat the mags. HOWEVER, I have one gen2 pmag and it has NOT stretched to date. Gen3 mags have either stretched or are made to wide at the lip, not sure which one, but my guess is that they are made a hair to wide. You can see a pic at the address below written by another guy complaining of the same thing on a different forum. waiting for a reply from magpul. I will be calling them this week. Take the gen3 mag and hold it from the bottom (just like you are inserting it) and give it a flick of the wrist away from you and the second round will rise up slightly keeping it from inserting in the mag well. this means a slight bump and your mag wont insert. Also happens when i try to insert it into the mag well and it hits the bottom of the carrier . The gen2 mag wont do this no matter how hard i try. This is a defect of the gen3 mag. If i have to push the rounds down to align them every time i need to insert a mag, they are useless. After some searching I found this: (Scroll down to the pic) Thoughts?

I was able to replicate that with an M3.

I could not do that with Gen 1 (20 & 30), Fusil, or Okay's. (I own no M2's or MOE's)

I managed to replicate this with 1 mag.
I'll have to try it with some others when I get home.

I will say though, that I was also able to clear up the problem on that 1 mag that I tried by pressing down on the rounds very forcefully several times.
Hell if know how that helps, but it seemed to help.

No, I did many tests with 30 rounds down to 2. The less rounds in the Gen3 mag, the easier it was for the rounds to move around, but also easier to seat the mag.

Note: The mags did worse in the heat than at room temp. The rounds moved much easier in the heat.

I'm sure that Magpul would love to inspect your magazine and would send you a replacement M2. Go to their industry forum or PM them.

Never seen it btw. All mine are g2g and most are kept topped off.

No, there is nothing wrong with them... as long as you don't try fast reloads or try to reload without pushing down the rounds first. You should have no problem. Just gently grab them and insert them into the mag well sloooowly to insure no movement of the rounds.

Sorry to hear it, I would send them back to be honest. The gen2 seem to work better, but not better than NHMTG with magpul follower or USGI. Never EVER a problem. By the way, I am a big fan of magpul product's.

This happened to me: Pmag gen2 GTG -- gen3, not so much
Magpul swapped them out at no charge for 2014 dated gen3 mags that did seem to work, but I sold the replacements and changed to Lancer AWMs.

Try putting the mag in and out several times with force. If you do it slowly it works most of the time. In my opinion though, it should seat most of the time no matter what.
What is the time stamp on your mags. Seems they may have addressed the problem. Update: They have done nothing.

And a rather isolated incident at that, whereas multiple ARFCOM users have reported issues with gen 3 Pmags. No magazine is perfect, but I personally feel a little more confident with the Lancer AWMs. If the AWMs didn't exist, I would probably go back to Pmag gen3s so long as they're 2014 production.

but because I called him he said he will replace them no problem. He also said that He never heard of a problem with the 30rd mags. B.S.

That is exactly what I experienced with a forged MEGA lower. I had gen3 20-rounders.

Funny, I talked to tech support yesterday and they said "i never heard of this" with the 30 round mags. I also asked specifically what changes were made to the gen3 and they said that a small
change was made to the 20 round mag and NO change to the 30 round mag. Who is right?

I hope it was fixed but how many defective mags are in the hands of citizens and Law Enforcement that have no clue of a problem with there mags. Where can I get these improved mags? The mags being shipped
are a year old.

It was with a specific ammo combination and took us over a month of testing just to be able to reproduce the issue consistently. Once the issue was identified a resolution was designed, tested and made as an engineering change to the M3 20 round magazine. For consistency the change was carried across the entire M3 line.

We brought this issue up in a meeting today and we are going to go over the testing and changes that were made along with some test firing to confirm a few things.

Overall this has not been an operational issue but for anyone with concerns we will make sure any problem is identified and resolved.

I can duplicate the same issue as the OP with my 10/2013 M3 mag. The second round shifts when the mag is flicked in the same manner as in the OP's video. I couldn’t get that mag to fail with hard insertion however. It isn't too far fetched for this shift of the second round to occur during rough handling. A bit disappointing.

I have other M3 mags dated 6/2013 and some that are dated later in the year.

I hope it was fixed but how many defective mags are in the hands of citizens and Law Enforcement that have no clue of a problem with there mags. Where can I get these improved mags? The mags being shipped
are a year old.

Fatty, I understand your frustration, but do you really need to be combative? Magpul is literally one of the greatest companies ever, and they've been through a lot in the last couple of years.
Its obvious to anyone who looks, that Magpul is dedicated to making the very best products they can and correcting their mistakes in a responsible manner, but all of the above takes time!
And are you going to tell me that this is the very first time you've spoken to somebody who is not a public representative for a company who didn't have all of the details on a particular problem?
Maybe the person you talked to wasn't trying to jerk you around. Maybe they're just new on the job or something.
