My dealer received five new production LE Colt 6721 tactical carbines the day before yesterday and he had to return four of them due to poor quality control. Messed up BCG's, tool markings all over the upper and lower receivers and miss match color variations with barrel and receivers. The one he kept was not on parr with the quality of my two LE Goverment Carbines i aquired last year. The 6721 looked like a amature parts gun not worthy of the big money and the Colt name. General Dynamics needs to get it together and start placing more time in the QC department and less time on production deadlines. ![]() |
Same here. I just got 2 6920's and they are beautiful. In fact the carry handles are machined smooth inside like I've never seen from Colt.BTW General Dynamics does NOT own Colt. Just another rumor. |
What was messed up about the BCG's? How was function affected by the tool markings and mismatched colors? |

Well i have been shooting and collecting Colt Ar 15's since 1979 with over my fair share of green lable guns to fill a big safe. I have a total of four LE models i bought back in 2004/05 and they were all perfect in fuction and cosmetic detail. The 6721 Tactical models that arrived that day were just sub standard in overall appearance and fuction. The Black finish that came with my 6520's and 6920's were ject black perfect. The finish on these 6721's looked well worn, almost if the anodising salts were faded into the exterior finish, looked damm sloppy. Receiver color variations from faded dark to medium grey with various tool markings all over lower and upper receivers. One upper receiver contained vise markings just below the foreward assit and left side area which left serious dents in the aluminum and were touched up with some type of armory touch up paint. The BC gas key retaining nuts were loose. Honestly the carbines looked like some range weapons that had seen some good use. I generally just reveiw posts here in this Colt arena and post from time to time. I have been an active arfcom member in Washington State since 2001, changed my handle to elf two years ago. love Colts AR15's but these guns were really in the suck catagory and i hope this was just a fluke because the last thing i need is a 6450 clone from RRA in the safe. No trolls here just the big elf... |

No pictures to this thread. This was a basic observation of four 6721 tactical Carbines which all had different problems and i was really in a state of shock by the condition these guns were in once they were removed from the packing carton. Every Goverment carbine( 6520) and Law Enforcement carbine (6920) that i have seen was perfect condition but for some weird reason all the 6721 models i have seen have had QC issues and were sent back to factory. I am not bashing colt, i have my share of these fine made guns and looking to aquire one more 6920 and a 6450 if supplies are out there but after veiwing these guns i was a little concerned about colt's future LE production. Several sale guys at this shop are always bashing colt for every known reason and when these guns arrived it was hard to defend Colt, i had to sit and listen to a bunch of Bs from the clowns behind the counter. Some of the frustration comes from poor supply and high demand of these products, the FFL has to return a limited shipemt of guns back to the supplier due to Qc issues and the Colt clientel get stuck looking at two dozen phony M4 rifles from the State of Maine. Hopefully this dealer will get a decent supply of LE Colts soon and we will see which ARs sell and the others just collect dust. |
