I love my MS2 sling, and I get comments on it wherever I go with my carbine. But I have been looking at it a lot lately and wondering if there might not be another way. I know there is at least one person on here who has modded their MS2 to have a QD sling mount to attach to the receiever (by way of a Noveske plate). I was wondering if there may not be a way to make the other end a QD attachment as well.
My problem comes to the ring in the MS2 where the three straps come together (in single point configuration). If that ring could be desinged to have a QD cusp attached to the ring (it would look kinda like a traditional engagement ring with the QD cusp where the diamond would be), it could still be easily transferred from single point to 2 point mode. This would also make finding a forward sling mount much simpler. Also, the QD sling components would be easy to supply. The only specialty piece would be the ring with QD cusp. I realize this would make the sling not as easy to flip around on the forward end (which would be a plus to me, to keep it from twisting). If both ends were done this way, the ASAP plate would be obsolete. Well, if anyone understands what I was aiming at, let me know what you think. Is this a possible idea? Could the forward clasp be modified into a QD function (along with the ring), but leave the claw on the receiver attachment? Should both of the attachments be changed? Am I just high? |

While others have modified their slings in various fashions to accommodate the QD swivels. I think it’s important to note the original intent for the MS-2 and ASAP plate was built based on operational experience and not for the casual range user or enthusiast.
The context to keep in mind is that in an active gun fight (that presumes someone is shooting back at you) and you’re under stress and fight or flight has kicked in, you don’t have the fine motor skills to be pushing quick release buttons if you had to detach the sling point to clear a double feed or to manipulate the weapons system in some form or fashion with tactical gloves on or one handed.
