Hopefully one of you guys can help me. When installing my brake, the knotch on the bottom lines up in between one red shim and one blue shim on the timing wheel when I torque it down.  Red isnt enough torque and blue is too much. Any ideas on what to do? Any other combination that would work. It appears I need a .009" shim for it to work. Thanks fellas!

Did you make sure to torque it the correct weight? I had a little bit of issue too when I put mine on. I think it took a purple, red, and then the one without anything. Good luck!

Yes. I put the beveled spacer on, and torqued to 20 foot pounds and as you can see the bottom lines up at a 90 degree angle which would be in between 1 red and 1 blue spacer. Im stumped.

Just keep playing with it and figure about what thickness you need like you previously said. Eventually it will line up. Again, I had the same issue. You'll love it once its on though!

Which way is your heavy tapered shim? One side has a better taper, put that towards the land on the barrel. And from there measure your shims with a mic or dial caliper, although the same size they will be different by a few thou. And if you need an .009 and you have a .010 just use that, the extra from that shouldnt hurt a thing.

Oh, and it looks like you just need one blue, no?

Do not just play around with it. I installed the gen 2 SF mb on both my SCAR and my tAR. I wasn't too sure how to do it myself and I called SF tech support and after 30 minutes on hold I spoke with a tech and he was very helpful on how to install them. There is a process to proper installation. Pm me with your phone number and I would be willing to explain it to you or call tech support.

You should really watch this video. It describes how to install a Surefire flash hider but i'm sure it is the same for their muzzle brake.

I've seen the video. The problem isn't with install though, its that I don't have a shim thats the rights size according to the timing wheel. I'll call surefire when they open.

I had the same problem with my stealth, ended up going with the "looser" shim because it was being pinned & welded anyhow. its been on over a year and havent had a problem.

Thats what i was thinking because im pinning it as well. Problem is, im ocd about getting it bottom dead center and I cant seem to get it perfect haha. Everytime the light or angle changes it seems like its crooked.

If you are pinning it and it isnt torqued as high as recommended you will be fine. As long as you can get at least 12 to 17 on it.
