I think you would find the two are pretty similar in sound performance.
The DL5 is getting an update in current production from a 5 baffle stack to an identical length 4 baffle stack that was designed to reduce flash on flash hider mounts, and better sound reduction on the bayonet compatible flash hider mount, and that stack is similar in performance muzzle and drops ear noise and backpressure at the same 6.5” length. It is similar to the m4sdL stack, but one baffle less because the muzzle device family for DL5 requires more internal clearance than the m4sdl.
The PSR7 has another baffle on the DL5, and the most current version of it has a full M4SDL stack.
Durability is best in the HRT model.
We have begun to make DL7’s in a 7 baffle version- identical stack to PSR Gen 2. So the DL7’s are soon going to be 7.5” oal instead of 7”.
The HRT7 is the better sound performer right bow and we don’t know exactly how the 7 baffle can will perform except to say it will have lower flash signature and improved sound performance on both sides of the gun. We know that from employing that stack in psr7, and MGL-C cans.
None of these changes mean any of the other cans were not good performers- these are just moves in a continuous improvement process to our own opinions of what “optimal configurations” are.
For example someone else might say 7” was a better DL7 length and they are probably right. Our internal people just liked the PSR7 stack and wanted it in the DL7.
Honestly I think the PSR5/M4SDL stack would be neat in the DL5, Im just not sure the market would love the 7” OAL, and a little extra backpressure would happen, and the market is very averse to backpressure right now.
