Over the course of the next few weeks and months, I'm going to expand the topic forums to specific models, while we retain a GD for topics that aren't really product-specific.
The first is for the LAR-47.
I'll be in and out, and you're ,more than welcome to "speak" amongst yourselves.  Just be respectful or each other and of RRA as your host.
Thanks.

I'm very interested in buying one of these rifles but wanted to wait for someone to post a complete review of the rifle and possible upgrades and compatibility with accessories.

I know the upper and lower are proprietary, but I had some questions.

Are the distance between takedown pins the same as a standard AR?

Is the charging handle a standard one?

Compatibly with standard rails?

Will a separate complete upper be available? Would be great to do a Form 1 SBR and have a short upper and another 16-18" for deer hunting.

Will spare parts ever be available, specifically the bolt?

Thanks

Once I can buy a separate upper, I'm in on the whole package.

Thought of one additional question. Is the bolt similar to most other manufacturers of 7.62x39 AR's? Like AR Performance, etc.

Thanks.

It probably will never be available as a truly seperate upper...just a special order as a replacement upper for an LAR-47 that you would already own, sometime down the road.
I don't have any one else's bolts, so I don't know how similar or dissimilar the LAR-47 bolt is to any of the others on the market.

Basically what I'm asking, is the barrel extension a standard AR one. Are the lugs on the bolt the same outer diameter as a 5.56 bolt.

Sorry for the 50 questions. I haven't been able to see one in person at any lgs. To see one I will have to order it.

Thanks.

The bolt lugs are non-standard.  The bolt face, extractor, etc...are, of course, not the same as 223 either.
The barrel extension had to be modified as well, primarily the feed ramps.
The AK mag sits extremely high, which required significant changes away from "standard" AR components, along with changes required for th eround itself.

The LAR 47 lower will accept any 7.62x39 upper, but there is a but. In order to use AK 47 magazines the 7.62x39 upper need to send to a gunsmith to wider the upper so it an fit the magazines ( i had my done by Michael Machine).

Pleas let me know who make that rail? Do you have to mod anything?

When will bolts be available. I really want a couple of LAR47 bolts as spares because of shooting steel case ammo. I called a few days ago and was told no parts are available yet. Don't like not being able to buy parts that ware or break. This alone will put off a lot of buyers.

We're really trying to deter the sale of parts to the do-it-yourselfers who are potentially going to hurt themselves (already have seen some gawdawful hodge-podges of components that different people have tried to mix and match and then scream at our CS reps and techs when they don't work or fail completely) rather than the sales of spares to those who already have the rifles.
I'll talk to ownership and see of I can bring the individual components on-line yet.  It'll probably still be limited-no receivers, maybe no barrels-initially.

Stripped uppers! Please...some of us want to keep the one that came with it and set up another differently.

Thank you Steve for bringing it up. I understand some of the concerns a manufacturer can have about what people do with their products/hodgepodge/CS nightmare.

Just a stripped upper should limit some of the headaches, since those purchasing it will already need to have a lar-47.

Love the product, just want to make it more versatile.

Thanks
