What is the difference between Ptac and premium uppers?
|
|
I am not an expert but from my time here I think that in terms of quality the following list increases from left to right
PTAC < Freedom < PSA < Premium/CHF My first PSA upper had a PSA barrel. The second was a CHF barrel. My current view is to buy premium or CHF. |

Ptac is lower quality components
PSA premium (CHF) are higher quality components. I consider the components used to be the equal to some other well respected companies (Spikes/BCM) but sometimes they are assembled poorly. The single biggest thing PSA could do to improve the PSA brand IMO would be to better train and supervise their "gunsmiths." For example the only tangible differences between a PSA CHF Mid and a BCM CHF Mid are the care with which they are assembled and the speed they are shipped. Both of those are entirely within PSA's control to fix. |

People are going to get this twisted all the time.
Don't get too tied up in the AR "tiers", its bullshit for 9/10 people buying these. You could give a good majority of us a PTAC barreled upper, tell us its some magic CHF hammer of Thor and I would think a solid percentage of the time, none would be the wiser. it would go bang, and there would be a mark on the target, Some people on here make it sound like you should feel bad for owning a PTAC rifle/product. For the price, they are solid. |

As stated earlier, PSA is not forcing anyone to buy PTAC products so quit your bitching. If you don't like it, don't buy it!

Both of those are entirely within PSA's control to fix. You and I ordered the same CHF middie in July. Both of us received incorrect barrels. The shipping time was not a concern to me. Actually it was adequately quick. What does concern me is whether I am not able to detect assembly issues. While that is my current level of newbieness, I should not have to be concerned about it. |
