Forgive me for the stupid question, but is there a certain way the QD mount is supposed to be facing when mounted?  More specifically, should the QD levers "throw" toward the front of the rifle or toward the rear when unlocked?  It's obvious to me on the LT104 mount that the levers go on the left side of the rifle and throw toward the front.  On my LT659-NV for the Aimpoint Comp M4s, the mount can be positioned either way on the sight.  Which is correct, or does it freakin' matter?  I noticed that on the pictures on the website, the mount is set up so that the levers throw forward, but is that by convention or coincidence?

Again, I know this is a stupid question, but I just want the peace of mind that my set up is done correctly...

I don't see that it matters.  I have mine on the left side.

I have mine "throw forward" with the thought that it would be that much harder to get snagged on something and open unintentionally. I know they have a lock to prevent this but I try to minimize Murphy when at all possible.

ETA: By "throw forward" I mean to remove the mount from the gun you rotate the arm forward.

Not only that, but...

Seems to me that throw - or actually close - forward, helps to draw the mount tight and forward on the rail.

The "correct" orientation would have the levers rotating to the rear.

However, on most of the mounts, the orientation of the lever is personal preference.

The exceptions are; when the mount has MOA cant built in...and when the optic's footprint dictates the orientation..

Thanks Mark.  For clarification, "the levers rotating to the rear" when being locked on or when being unlocked?

Rotating to the rear when being moved to the locked position.

I reversed one mount so the ejection/load port on my shotgun would not have the lever over the top.  Roll with what works best for your application.

Exactly what and why I just did on my new Aimpoint micro (rifle other than an AR) along with clearing the way for the CH.
