| Hi, I have some questions about the Laser Devices' IR OTAL. The dimensions of the OTAL are 2.8”(L) x 2.4”(W) x 0.73”(H), but are these just for the unit itself or the unit plus the mount? If not, how much height does the mount add? I've heard of the Larue 171 mount which is supposed to be a better choice, but does it lower the profile any? |
| The total height with the mount (to the top of the elevation knob is 1.375" off the top of the rail. It is easily cleared by your optic. Larue makes great mounts, but they are not good for lasers. The laser housing protrudes over the top of the LT lever and adjustment nut. There is not enough room to fit the adjustment wrench in between the laser and nut, so you have to adjust the lever to the rail and then mount the laser to the mount. It' a pain in the ass. The HT mount that comes with all LDI lasers is far superior for this application. It is incredibly solid and well-designed. Have no fears! |

I bought one of these a few weeks ago (OTAL Class 1), and damn do they work! The mount included is rock solid, no issues there. From the bench we have the IR shooting baseball size groups at 100 yards. That is pretty good in my mind as the PVS-14 is of course not magnified, and we are shooting at a matte black steel plate which is damn hard to see anyway. The Coyotes are gonna hate this thing!
A BIG thumbs up! jeff |
