I want to get the nightforce ATACR for my 18" 762 OBR - I don't know when the OBR will get here, but considering that the last nightforce scope I ordered from Larue 3 months ago isn't here yet, i figured i would get in line for this one too...
My question is this: Mil-R or M.O.A.R. reticle? Looks like Larue only offers it with the Mil-R reticle - sent a couple emails to see if they offer the MOAR and can't get a response. Any advice on the two is appreciated, although I realize it is personal preference. I will be shooting out to 500 yards consistently, but rarely much further than that (no where to go do that). Thanks |

Mil vs MOA. Do you already know one, then pick it. What do the people you shoot/spot for use? It is good if everyone is on the same system.
Do you think in yards or meters? MOA for yards and Mil for meters to avoid conversions. ATACR is an awesome scope. I picked mine up on OpticsPlanet to avoid the sales tax. I'm also using Badger Ordnance rings on my TOBR. |
| Go ahead and get the MIl-R. MIL far more common for most serious tactical comps. Base 10 reticle. Easier to do calcs. Many guys seem to get uptight about the apparent lack of precision with the reticle adjustments, i.e. 1/10 Millradian being .36 inches vs. 1/4 MOA = .26". Well can you, the rifle and your load and your estimation of wind really discern the 1/10 of an inch difference in precision at 100 yards or 1/2" difference at your 500 yard limit? |

Thanks - I wanted to buy the scope/mount combo from Larue because it looked like a little better deal. However I really want the MOAR reticle so may go with optics planet on this one. thanks again I have all three of NFs big glass ... all with MOAR ... they are fantastic optics ... |
