I have two half circle bcg one from a 6520 and a 6920 (2004) are these good to go or
do I need to swap them out for full auto carriers.
I thought all leo models came with full auto but I guess not.
Thanks

The LE models at one time came with half-circle shrouded bolt carriers- meaning they were half circle like the civvy guns, but had the shrouded firing pin feature the civvy models lacked.

Half circle carriers are good to go, I used one with my former Sporter Lightweight carbine for 10 years and never had any problems.

It's up to you if you want to upgrade your carrier to full auto, if you decide to upgrade you could buy BCG directly from Colt now at a good price.

I know a Colt dealer in OH that sells new Colt M16 BCG for a little less than the factory but I cannot mention it here because he's not a sponsor, message me if you want the info.

I was looking around earlier and did see some 6520 uppers that had the half-circle/unshrouded firing pin carriers, so I guess they came that way as well.

Do your lowers have the pinned in sear block or just the web filling in where the sear would go?

My long experience with unshrouded firing pins carriers is that they tend to wear out the firing pin retaining pin quicker than with shrouded firing pins.

Agree.  Assuming his lowers don't have the tall, pinned in block, that would be the main reason I would want to swap it out for a shrouded M16 carrier.  Otherwise, they should be GTG.

ETA:  You could get just the carrier with key from SAW and retain the original bolt and small parts if that's the route you want to go:  http://www.specializedarmament.com/products/BOLT_CARRIER_KEY_ASSY_LE_MILITARY_M16_M4-83-4.html

Rgr, then I'd just order a couple bolt carriers from SAW and use the bolts and small parts from the BCGs in your weapons now.  Less money spent and you're keeping the original bolts with the barrels.  Unless Alpha's friend can get you a better deal, that is.

Do you know if the bolt carriers from saw have the key staked already?
This sound like the way to go.

Yes, key is fully installed, all you've gotta do is swap in the bolt, firing pin, etc.

Is there a market for the half circle carriers I might put them on the ee try to make some of
my money back.
I am going to order the carriers from saw.

Un-shrouded firing pin carrier at left and third to the right, and shrouded second at left and far right.

Un-shrouded prevents the hammer from riding the carrier back and striking the firing pin, which can cause out of battery strikes (and full auto function) when the disconnector does not engage the hammer.
