Hello,
I have an upper with a 16" DD cold hammer forged barrel that has a 0.75" FSB pinned at mid-length. The diameter of the barrel forward of the FSB is approximately 0.74". I would like to convert this upper to a dissipator-like barrel, with a FSB taper pinned at rifle length with a Magpul MOE rifle-length handguard. I presume that a 0.75" FSB cannot be pinned on the barrel at rifle length because the barrel is too thin. If that is the case, then is this what I have to have done as my only option? 1. Contour barrel in front of FSB $65––Profile down to 0.625"? 2. Shave existing FSB to fit under handguards $38 ––Which handguard to select to fit under? 3. Install new FSB at rifle length $130 + Taper pins $15––Do you have new 0.625" FSB's that you stock for this purpose? 4. Upper disassemble/reassemble $50 Are there other options that I'm not thinking of? Thanks in advance for your help! |

Thanks!
One more question. When profiling the front of the barrel, will you just turn everything down to 0.625" and mount the new FSB in that area, or will you leave a shoulder on the back side for the new rifle length FSB to be properly spaced against? Just wondering what to expect. |
