I have searched through all 86 pages of the LT forum, and still can not find the answer. Does LT use locktite on their barrel nut when assembling? I can not for the life of me get the barrel nut off; and yes,I am turning it lefty loosy I have read a few posts that recommend "heating" it; what is the recommended method for heating it though? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Got it off!

Throw it in the oven .... is Aluminium ... its not going to hurt it .... if you have all the plastic off the upper I wouldnt hseitate to throw it in the oven and bake it for a bit .... you dont have to keep the loctite hot in order for it to break down I dont think .... or hell keep it hot and use oven mits to move it to the bench and break it loose. Once you have it loose you are golden ........ and also use a cheater bar to give you better leverage.
Worst you can do is fuck it up ... and even if you fuck it up I am sure that you would be an internet hero because you broke some of the toughest gear around. I am sure that Mark would warranty it as well. |

I'm sure I'll get it off though. |

Quoted: Quoted: NO ONE uses loctite on barrel nuts. It is just not necessary. I doubt LaRue would do such a thing, especially given their locking system. I didn't really think it was loctited on, but I seriously can't get it to loosen. Describe your set up. What tools are you using? |
