Would anyone suggest buying a DD m4a1 upper just for the Ris ii rail?   I would get terrible value trying to sell the rest of it because DD pins and welds the flash hider on.  I can't find a Ris ii anywhere.

No.   you've already nailed it on the resale value.  There a couple RIS rails on eBay, and one on GB.  They're wanting a chunk of change, but it'll still be a lot cheaper than the upper.

Has the EE here dried up when it comes to RIS II rails? I got my FDE RIS II FSP for my M4A1 on here for $350.

Yeah, they're impossible to come by.   I wanted one for years, finally have the funds and DD discontinued it.  My local gun shop had one on the shelf for like two years and someone just Bought it.

DD isn't selling the FDE rails to civilians at the moment. Your only best is on the second hand market. Plenty to be had from guys who started or planned clone builds and never followed through or took a different direction. I held out for a long time for a FDE model to match my factory MK18.

Someone put one up on the ee, and I just missed it.   I checked the ee like every hour for the past couple weeks.  I checked on my lunch break,  and 7 minutes later someone posted one. UGH!!!

For years I've been trying to get this rail.  Unbelievable.

Stick with it. When I bought mine I bet there were five for sale at the same time.

Any chance you have anymore. I'm in the same boat as the op. Have been looking all over the place for a rail or a complete upper. I'm at the point now where I'm even contemplating buying the complete rifle, it's a solid setup but I don't feel like forking over the dough.

I've been looking for one for a while now. I haven't had any luck on the EE. Does anyone have a direction to go for a reliable vendor? Thanks!

None.. trust me.  Ee has them but you gotta be vigilant, or spend a lot, or it will be on an upper you don't need.

I got lucky, thanks again Hector!

I put my name on the DD site to email me when an M4 RIS comes available.  Is that just an empty hole?  Are they selling no more, or is it a once in a while thing?

DD has indicated that they aren't selling them stand alone for now. Only they know how long the trend will continue. I'd keep your eyes open on EE. I've seen a handful of new and used rails hit there over the past few days.

I talked with a DD manager today.  He said they are making them as fast as they can, both the M4 and Mk18 RIS, but until they catch-up on rifle production and gov't purchases, they are not available (yet).  He suggests putting your name online on the waitlist.

I have a question for the group:  Do you prefer the FSP RIS for an M4 build, or the flat rail ?

I prefer the FSP if I'm using irons or a red dot and the non FSB if I'm using a 1X+ or magnified optic.
