I recently acquired a RRA Elite Comp that I had ordered in 2009 and as it was suppose to, it came with the Magpul CTR Stock which I see is no longer offered with the elite comp or on the website for that matter. The CTR stock is suppose to have a "mechanism that friction locks the stock to the buffer tube for zero movement." However, my friction lock has no noticeable affect on the movement/wobble between the stock and buffer tube.
I am wondering if anyone else has had this problem and what is the problem exactly? Wrong spec tube? Wrong spec stock? Broken? Thanks |

It has been a little while, but I read on this site (possibly in this forum) that the RRA buffer tube is slightly smaller at the bottom of the tube which allows for a small amount of wobble. I purchased a CTR stock for my Tactical Operator and there is still a little wobble in it. Someone suggested buying a different buffer tube since there wasn't anything you could do to correct it. I haven't done this yet but I will eventually. You might do a search and see if you can find that thread. Hope this helps and good luck to ya.
ETA: I found the tread. Here ya go.Stock options |

I ended up sending the rifle back to RRA at their request so they could see what they could do to fix it. Having not fired it yet and snow being a issue, why not. It is my understanding they found a buffer tube on the large end of the specifications to match with the stock. Results? The rifle was gone for about about 10 days from the time I dropped it off at UPS and the time UPS handed back to me at no additional cost to me. Far as the stock is concerned, without the friction lock engaged, the stock is about 10 times tighter fitting than previously on the old buffer tube. And the friction lock also is now working as I have been told it should. Once engaged, the friction lock removes what little side to side wobble is left in the stock.
Overall, having dealt with other companies with other issues, I am very happy with how Rock River handled this. |
