| Has anyone else noticed a horrible reflection in the bottom right 1/3 of the fov ? I just received my strikefire and it takes my eye away from everything else. It appears to be a reflection of the groove in the tube where the LED sits ? Did I just get a defective model ??? |
| That perfectly describes what I'm seeing. Glad to hear that I'm not crazy. Let's see what Sam has to say tomorrow. Maybe someone forgot the anti-reflective coating. I see other reflections also in the scope but it isn't as bad. I can look at the wall to the left of my sliding door and I can see my picnic table reflected in it, the table is on the deck through the door. I would hate to be in a low light situation and shoot 6 feet to the left of the intended target, that would be bad. |

The objective lens has a reflective coating on it to reflect the LED, so you are going to get some reflection of the internals of the scope. We've tried to mitigate that as much as possible, but it's difficult to completely eliminate it. The key is that if you are shooting both eyes open and focusing on the target instead of the inside of the scope you shouldn't really notice it. The idea is to train your eyes so that you merge the dot with the field of view of your non-dominant eye. That has worked well for me and I don't even see it unless I am looking for it. |

Aaaah. Unfortunately, I have a bad right eye (I'm left handed), so I dont think that will work for me. The reflection isnt horrible, but noticable at low light so far. That's what I'm seeing. I'm going to give it another look but if this the way it's suppose to be then there maybe a trip to equipment exchange in my future  It's unfortunate because I've waited so long for this. I realize that this isn't an aimpoint but I have a fakepoint on my air rifle that has a clearer FOV.

I put it on the AR and I can't get over it. I did a side by side with the fakepoint and it's no contest. I'm going to look into returning it. It's either going back or going on the EE. The image below is the Strikefire aimed to the left of my front window. You can see the complete reflection of the window and can kind of make out the internal reflection in the bottom right. The window is kind of drowning it out. I hope that future versions can have this issue minimized because the scope is nicely made and the dot is crisp :(

That is an untouched picture. It was reduced to 40% of original, and cut out. That's it. The pic looks the same as the original. |
Had a lot of potential as a nice red dot but a reflection like that is not good. I'll have to wait and see one for myself before I make any conclusions.|
I've been looking into this the past couple of days and we are actively working on a solution to this issue. | I'm very interested in this red dot, but I'm hoping Vortex Sam can tell us if the new batch(es) still have the reflection issue? Secondly, if I buy one now knowing about the reflection issue, and a subsequent release rectifies the problem, what recourse will Vortex provide me? |

If you shoot with both eyes open as red dots are primarily intended , the reflection issue is a relatively minor one. Because of this, I don't think you'll see any quick changes in the next several batches of these. If by some chance a change did get made shortly after you purchased, rest assured our service guys will take good care of you. Paul @ Vortex |

For most users buying sights in this price range, I do feel this will be a minor issue. That being said, we pay very close attention to any concerns customers express and will always do our best to continue to meet your needs and improve our products. However, I just don't have any way to give you accurate time frames or priority levels on running improvements (such as reduced reflection in the StrikeFire). | The reflection bit makes me kind of sad after waiting for so long. Coupled with my Crossfire that came new with the black specs inside kind of make me leary on picking up more Vortex. I will keep the faith though and see how bad it is in person and see how my crossfire situation is handled. |

I have only noticed the reflection "issue" during certain lighting conditions indoors, and only while pointing straight up into a clear blue sky outdoors. Both times this was with one eye open. Once I opened my other eye and started sighting this way the reflection was no longer an issue or noticeable. I think for the price the Strikefire is a great value. When I ponied up the $130 up for mine I did not expect an Aimpoint. What I did get was what I considered an inexpensive sight of a quality that made it a value for it's intended use- a sight for a back up rifle that does double duty as a .22 platform. |

It did not have a reflection issue, but had a serious issue with parallax no matter what the range was. What I do know is that similarly priced sights do not offer the red/green option, NV mode, 2x doubler, solid caps, a free mount (though I did not use mine), or an advertised battery life of 2k hours. (Even my Trijicon TriPower only has an advertised battery life of around 150 hours IIRC. But then the battery is considered a back up.) It is not an Aimpoint, and as best as I can tell it was never intended to be. What it is though is a more affordable alternative to the more expensive options out there. |
| I just looked through an ancient BSA, a Bushnell Trophy (Just the plain dot), and a CNC Precision Optics which would all three be lower priced red dots. None of them had that sae type of reflection of anything inside the sight. You did however get a little bit of the cluster look when they were turned up all the way. The BSA has been junk from the get go but the Bushnell Trophy and the CNC Precision optics sight have been great on my .223s and one of the Bushnells is on my 12ga as well. I hope they get the reflection thing fixed because if they do I will probably pick up two or three of the Vortex sights. |

I can see the reflection mainly indoors and if I really look for it outside while moving around getting the sun just right I can kind of see it. But while shooting I haven’t even noticed it. Mine does have a few of the black specs floating around but so far they haven’t really been an issue. |
| in another thread some guy said he let someone see it and it was mounted on an AK and the guy dropped it right on the sight, he said his still kept zero. Mine is coming off the AR and going to the big show................. beowulf. After i put 100 rounds through it ill leave a range report on the goods and the bads, but i doubt ill have any bads. |

There will always be some amount of reflection. However, we did try and optimize the coatings to reduce it as much as possible. You can see it if you are really looking for it, but if you are using the sight normally, with both eyes open it shouldn't be an issue. -Sam |
