Let me start off by saying that I'm not trying to start any kind of flame war about Magpul because so far, I've liked everything they make.
That being said I'm preparing to order a large amount of 20 round magazines and my first thought was of the Pmag. After doing a little reading, I've noticed some less than favorable reviews about them. Some folks are having trouble with feeding and locking the bolt back? My initial thought was there might have been an issue with the early ones but has been resolved now. I welcome any thoughts or input from Magpul as well as "the hive" Thanks |

The 20 round is the original design or Generation 1 and has never been updated.
I have seen reports of problems but I use 3 of them and never had a problem. I use the 20s when I site in on a bench the thirties hanging down too much. I have a bunch (65-75) of the Gen2 30s and are what I primarily use in all carbines It seems to be variances in guns with some fine others not so fine. If there is anyway for you to try one extensively you will know if your gun likes them Wulfmann |

I have one for bench shooting that is of recent manufacture, and I almost never get BHO at the end of the mag regardless of what rifle it's in or what ammo I'm using. This includes 5.56/.223 and 300 BLK.
FWIW, as you point out, this is a known issue. As such, I would not consider Magpul 20s GTG for anything but slow fire range time. Love the Magpul 30 and especially the Gen M3, though. They are all I buy anymore. |
| Had mine not lock the bolt back on the final round twice (out of 4-5 cycles) on my last range trip. I've never had it happen previously, but I own 2 and don't use them often. I just got in a Lancer 20rd.... we'll see what happens. No more Magpul 20 rounders for me. I love the 30's though. |

Update:
I bought 3 20rd P-mags for testing. All three of them fail to lock the bolt back if there's any pressure on the bottom of the mag (like if you're resting the rifle on the mag). The only other P-mag that I have is an older 30rd that barely fits in the magwell. I'll be going with USGI 20s for my loadout I think. |
