Just bought a LE6920MP-FDE The only thing I don't like is the front sight post. Was wondering what the easiest way to remove it would be. Beside just wacking it of with a grinder. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I STRONGLY advise you leave it alone and leave it on there. Colts FSB installed at the factory by colt is one of the few put on to milspec and more durable and tough then most brands

It will last forever and take a beating,.  I would not take it off or change it.

What Shawn said.. why would you take it off? I removed the carry handle on my 6920 and put an eotech on it. Unfortunately the front sight post lined up with the red dot. Bought a LaRue riser to give move the eotech up about 1/8 inch, problem solved..

A Dremel tool should do it with the metal cutting blades.  I don' like the fsp personally so I can definitely see why you would want to cut it off. I was so happy when I found the LT6720-r  which came with no fsp.

Why do you want to remove your FSB, are you assuming that it will block your field of view when using red dot or magnified optic?

+1 Like what the other members said it is a very strong robust sight that would probably survive better than rail mounted sights if you ever drop your weapon.

When using a red dot optic just use the tall mounts so your iron sights are at the lower 1/3 of your optic field of view, when using magnified optic at 2.5 to 3X and higher magnification the front post becomes a transparent ghost at low power setting and almost completely disappears at higher magnification.

ETA: If you still want to remove your FSB for some other reason here's detailed step by step instructions with pics using a Dremel tool, the only thing that I would do different than the instruction is that I won't use set screws to mount the sight, just use the same but new taper pins.

I removed my FSB because of the Free Float rail I'm using a Daniel Defense RIS II, I also installed the Mk12 gas block from them as well. I hit the bare metal spots with cold blue and haven't had any problems since. However I did keep the FSB and the taper pins in case I ever decide to go back to stock. As far as seeing it through your optic, thats the name of the game!! I have an 6921 lower and am going to have ADCO cut the barrel to 10.3" for me and the FSB can be seen through the CompM2 but, it doesn't bother me.

if you do decide to remove it, from seeing it that is, I highly recommend you just drive the taper pins out (the right way) and keep it and install a after market part, that FSB is drilled/tapered for that barrel and that barrel alone, just hose it down with some CLP and throw it in a parts bin. At least that way if you ever decide to go back to original, you can.
