I had Adco taper pin an F marked FSB on my 20" A1 barrel. It shoots center of mass at 200 meters at mechanical zero (thank you very much). Here's my issue. When running a DD A1.5 rear sight, my front post zeros .040  below the top surface of the FSB. I know this is a minor deal but it kinda bugs me.

Would replacing my FSB with a standard one now be a straight forward job or is it a tough thing to do?

All FSB's are fitted and drilled independently to each barrel and not a direct replacement item, so swapping it would be the same as before.

Understood. But will the second FSB be as solid and straight as the original?

Does it make any difference if it is a tappered pin vs. straight pin? I would assume you have a solid jig to perform this work, and the holes in the FSB would be drilled exactly in the same place as before, correct?

Yes, it would.

It does not quite work that way, every barrel is slightly different, and sometimes FSB's are a little different from one to another.  If it were that way, FSB's would interchange. No, it does not matter if it's straight or taper pins.

Good enough for me. I'll get my parts together and send it over. Thanks

Can a FSB be re-used on another (new, undrilled) barrel?

Yes, a used FSB can be installed onto a new barrel.
