I have some of the black nitride bolts. There was an issue with the case ejecting in a rifle. Upon inspection, the extractor was facing the wall of the upper receiver instead of the ejection port. I did not think this was possible, but see that some manufacturers allow this by cutting out an extra step in the machining. Was this intentional or did i get one that they missed in QC?

Are you talking about the extractor?  It sounds like you installed your bolt upside down.

Yes, i know. But that has never been possible in any other bolt i owned. I am not at home to check the others i have, so am not sure if they were ALL manufactured this way.

That shouldn't be possible as the cam pin can only insert into ONE end of the hole in the bolt (the bolt cam pin hole is tapered).

Wrong, in almost all bolts you would be correct, but some can have the cam pin inserted on both sides on purpose. Two of mine from AIM will allow this. Since the others won't, i assume this is a manufacturers defect. I am trying to work this out with AIM.

Kudos to you sir, for trying to work this out with AIM. Instead of starting a bashing thread, As many folks would do here lately.

As always, AIM takes care of it's customers. I found two bolts that had this issue. They at first offered a full refund, but allowed me to swap the BCG's out for the NiB as they are the same price and the melonite BCG is out of stock. I didn't ask for anything extra to compensate me for my troubles... perhaps a sticker can be included? Shame when you have to beg a company to advertise for them!
