Why does DD say not to use the rifle length omega rail with a low profile gas block and shorter gas system?

That is a good question. In short, because that isnt what it was designed to do. It will absolutely work just fine (as I have done it many times); however the Omega family of rails is designed to be a drop in rail utilizing the existing delta assembly. The Omega X family of rails is designed more to be used in conjunction with low profile gas blocks utilizing its proprietary barrel nut while still maintaining the same profile of the Omega.

Thanks for the reply.  My interest in the Omega rail is of course the lack of gunsmithing required to install.  I'm planning on taking a dremel tool to my fsb wiithout removing it from the barrel, then using the rifle length omega rail to go on over it.

The Omega is not designed to accomodate a cut down FSB and will likely not work the way you are wanting it to. In order to make this upgrade to your weapon as you are wanting to, it would be best to install a low profile gas block that is designed to be used in conjunction with a rail.

If you buy direct from DD and you send in your URG DD will install it for you at no cost.

Yes sir, any of our Low Profile gasblocks will work with our rails. And if you want us to, we would be more than happy to install everything for you. All you would need to do is cover the shipping costs.

What kind of turnaround times would I be looking at?

I would estimate the turnaround time for that to be somewhere in the one week range. (Not including shipping time.) Due to the high volume of sales lately, it may exceed the one week time period, but that is my best estimate.
