Hey MI - I have a bunch of your stuff for AK's, AR's, even for my Galil and Sig 556, so I know you're not afraid to branch out... Any way you'd look into a rail extension for the FN SCAR like the one Tango Down has abandoned? The bottom rail replacement method which retains the quick change barrel is IMHO the best option for attachment, but I'd take it a step further and replace the side rails making them monolithic. I attached this video for reference:

Parts are running . I hope to have pics on the web site this next week. They're very sweet. Troy. Mi. Great to hear. Im anxious to see pics of this rail. Should be a hit for Midwest. There are plenty of SCARs out there now and the biggest complaint is rail space. It will be good to have another option as far as extensions. Glad that you are bringing these to market. |

| Thanks MI, I got my fde scar extension this week and looks fantastic. Scar17 really feels like a rifle now. You guys ought to thread the tubular hole above the barrel and you could have a built in flashlight or laser in there. or just send out rubber plugs and use it for storage. I may cut it down about an inch (sorry) I am not sure I need quite so much rail, we'll see. Other than that it is excellent. Thanks for a great product. |
| I have a suggested product for you. I love the extended scar rail, however, now that I have enough rail up front to attach accessories, the FN OEM rails on the main rifle frame are rather useless as configured. I would like to see some matching rails like your side rails to attach my rail grip panels. The problem with the FN OEM panels is that 1. they are too short (not a lot of real estate to grip), and 2. they are too wide (feels like holding a log). I currently have solved the problem by getting a 12 inch YHM low proflile rail and cutting it in half, drilling, filing, and getting 5.5 of rail instead of the measley 4"ish. This has shaved 1/4" off the width, allowing it to feel just like an more standard AR in your hand. At very least, I would like to see 5 to 5.25" of rail without QD's as rail grip covers would cover them anyway. I don't think the extra rail sticking out beyond the rearmost attachment screws would cause a problem as the rails are reasonably stout and secured enough for rail grips. Narrower rails would be nice, but I would rather have longer rails at very least. I have thought of buying your side accessory rails and cutting off the front end QD to match up with your extended rail, but would rather have a purpose built rail that is a little longer. Just an Idea, Dang the things I could do if I only had a mill. |
