Looking to get a shorter upper , I am new to firearms can anyone point me in the fastest direction to legally obtain one?

Perhaps it would be helpful if you would describe what you mean by "shorter".

There's a big difference if "shorter" means "Short Barreled Rifle" or "SBR" (barrel less than 16") vs. just something shorter than the standard AR-15 20" barrel.

And why is this in the Magpul forum?

If you're talking about an NFA weapon there's no "faster" involved.  Slow down and learn so that you don't end up committing felonies.

He's new, give him a chance, but I agree slow down, read about it, and make sure you know everything, otherwise you could be a felon. And it is a long, slow, expensive, tedious process. Only way to go quick is to go illegal, and I wouldn't recommend that.

And wow, wrong forum... Check the NFA and SBR Forums.



Likely another hour and a mod will come along and move it for you, plus there are some really good threads over there, in the right forums, on how exactly to get all the paperwork filled out and what to do and what not to do.
