I've got an original SPARC and it will not power off. If I hold the power button down for a few seconds the dot goes off but comes right back on as soon as I let it go. I'm assuming it will still shut off in 6 hours but this seems like an unnecessary battery drain. Any suggestions?

Easily 90% of the times I see this, it's because the battery is about to die. Generally, changing the battery will fix it. If it doesn't, let me know and we can get it in for a look. Thanks and let me know if you have any further questions. I would be happy to help.

Also, is this an issue with the Sparc II?

A dot flickering because the battery is dying is common. That's the unit's way of warning you that the battery is almost gone and changing it soon is a good idea. However, a SPARC with a very short battery life would not be common or normal and anything not performing up to expected battery life would of course be taken care of. We also recommend storing the red dot without a battery installed because this will draw slowly from the battery. Please let me know if you have further questions. I would be happy to help.
