I just received / installed my SS Series handguard. All went well until the anti-rotation screw. It doesn't quite start in the hole. It looks like the hole needs to have a tap run thru to clean up the threads. What thread size & pitch is it?
Thanks. |
| Mine has a similar problem but when I looked closely at it I found that a small portion of the threads on the barrel nut are sticking out into the anti-rotation screw hole and I just cant even get the anti-rotation screw in the hole at all when the top rail is lined up. If i could turn the handguard 1 more rotation tighter that would fix the problem but the top rail that sticks out to give it the "monolithic look" is maybe .015" too long to get that one last rotation. I sent an email to the address listed on MI's website contact page with the details and some photos showing what I mean. My anti-rotation screw threads into the handguard just fine when the handguard is not installed so I know the threads are good on mine, the barrel nut just is in the way when the handguard is installed. Check yours as it may have this same issue. |

You can get one more turn if you fit the hand guard . You will have to time out the upper rail by removing extra material on the end of the hand guard. If you take your time you will have zero gap and it will be true monolithic. The material can be removed with a file . Take your time and it will be perfect rush it and it may not look so nice.Very few rifles require this step most do not. Give me a call if you have any other questions. thanks TROY MI 262-896-6780 [email protected] |
