Got my V7 last friday, finally got to shoot it today. Installed a set of Magpul Gen 2 sites. All sighted in but I am almost regretting buying the open sights and wishing I had put the money toward a nice scope. Stopped to look at Gander Mtn on the way home. I was hoping to find something for a couple hundred $$ but was told by the nice guy behind the gun counter that if I bought a DD I should be looking at scopes in the $300 - $500 range to appreciate the real value of the rifle. Ok - question is - any opinions? this is my first AR and first scope on a rifle. So................

Leupold Mark AR Series of Scopes.  Great value for the price and performance.

I have a couple of them.  Don't know what power range you're looking for, but they have them starting at $299 for a 1.5x4x20 without a lighted reticle and they go up from there.  Good luck!
